State Treasurer Lynn Fitch and College Savings Mississippi announce the third annual College Savings Mississippi Art Contest. January 4 through February 29, 2016, students across Mississippi compete for four $529 Mississippi Affordable College Savings (MACS) scholarships by submitting an original piece of art on the theme, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"I am excited about the opportunity to award four $529 MACS scholarships to deserving Mississippi students," said Treasurer Lynn Fitch. "This contest is a great opportunity for students, whether in a classroom or through an afterschool program, to express what they envision for their future.
"Our goal through the College Savings division is to provide families across this state an affordable way to save for college, and it is our hope this scholarship is the first step in building that foundation," Treasurer Fitch continued. "Students who are better prepared for their future are helping create a stronger workforce and economy for Mississippi."
A $529 Mississippi Affordable College Savings (MACS) scholarship will be awarded to the first place contestant in each of the following age categories: Pre-Kindergarten - 2nd Grade, 3rd - 5th Grade, 6th - 8th Grade, and 9th - 12th Grade.
